Sophistication
City life is going to change us, we'll be different don't you see
We are not the country bumpkins that our parents used to be
At four we'll have our tea served to us on a silver tray
And we'll sip it with our pinky raised, just like Cyril Mulrey.

C.O.K.L will look at gay Paree with kindly pity
It's not as cosmopolitan as we are, but it's pretty
Our sophisticated cows all chew their cud with such panache
Our sheep all show such joi de vivre as they bleat and munch the grass

The Queen will want to come and see our city we've no doubt
We'll have Cyril there to meet her and to take her walkabout
She'll look up at the silos rising high into the sky
There's no such sight in London she'll tell Cyril with a sigh.

Oh, the City of Kawartha Lakes ... a wonderous place to see
Superhighways aren't there yet,.. we hope they'll never be
There's something to be said for peace and for bucolic charm
Forget sophistication,... lets retire to the farm.
