VOCO (Voices of Central Ontario) and its colleagues in the Ontario Deamalgamation Network have begun the "Red Casket Relay", starting in Lindsay Ontario, at the constituency office of MPP Laurie Scott (PC, Haliburton-Victoria-Brock). It is our intention to visit the constituency offices of MPPs throughout Ontario in the weeks and months ahead.
The red casket symbolizes the death of democracy inherent in the failure of the Ontario provincial government to respect the outcome of the November 10, 2003 referendum on de-amalgamation in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
With only a few notable exceptions, MPPs have remainded silent on Mr. McGuinty's failure to live up to his word, or to accept the democratic will of the people as expressed in the referendum on de-amalgamation. The "Red Casket Relay" invites each and every MPP who is visited by the relay to respond in writing with your comments on Mr. McGuinty's failure.
